Alex is the head of Stop patriarchy dot Org, sending their Marxist-feminist message to the world. For her, Porn distorts the perception of what is humanly acceptable during sex. She gets her hands dirty explaining how sexual relationships are transformed by this mass industry. She goes deeper into the links between the porn industry, the capitalist market and the sex trade.
I am a teacher. A history teacher that has to undergo all the bullshit there is in education nowadays. I try to teach my pupils the real shit that went down in United-states but It’s becoming harder as the kids don’t realize how many lies they swallow every day and every hour. One these and probably the toughest one, is the truths of the feminine gender and discrimination. For centuries, women have endured two kinds of severe pressure. The first is often pushed by the Catholic Church: anti-abortion laws, the need to stay a virgin before marriage and that woman should not know any other men than their husband; these kind of dangerous ideas currently exist in the United States and have proliferated since the rise of extreme religious groups. The second truth is derived from the capitalist system we live in: the body cult, the sex cult. A woman has become to be defined by her body, by her holes. She has to make them more available and accessible, for her to integrate into society. The more open a woman is, the more success she will have.
These two pressures have triggered a dichotomy in the way a woman can integrate in society: Virgin or Whore? And a woman has only one choice between these two and that needs to change. For my website Stop patriarchy.org, I was travelling to different porn shops in order to yell these titles. A porn shop is normally a place where everybody is quiet, minding their own business and trying not to cross their neighbour’s vision in the hard-core section. Thanks to porn new fantasies have been created and spread around, such as deep throats, huge gangbangs and of course my favourite the facial ejaculation. This disgusting action is about domination of the women’s body and is a way for men, within in the act of sex, to apply direct ownership; the women’s body becomes the property of the man taking advantage of it and that is sick! It’s really difficult for me to imagine how men can become so connected to these fantasies, they will say it’s their own choice, but that’s bullshit.
This would be less harmful if porn was not 12% of the Internet and more than 4 million websites. The statistics are truly staggering, every 39 minutes a new pornographic video is being created in the U.S. It’s a big business. The pornography industry has larger revenues than Microsoft, Google, Amazon, eBay, Yahoo, Apple and Netflix combined. In 2006 Worldwide Pornography Revenues ballooned to $97.06 billion and this is but one of many monsters of the capitalist system. What is little known is that the porn industry heavily relies on the sex-trade and the two are intrinsically connected, with 30 million children having lost their childhood because of this industry. Fraudulent promises of legitimate jobs and claims of exaggerated wages are common in order to make potential porn actresses travel to the studios, and soon after the psychological and physical violence starts. Everybody who is wanking off in front of their computer needs to know that.
With Stop patriarchy.org we are trying to initiate a sense of reality in all those people who need it and we are trying to make it easier for those who feel contrary to be able to express themselves. Take Patriarchy By Storm was an action to create a banner that grows, as people add their personal stories. We now have banners in New York, Seattle, and the Bay Area, and we are also collecting stories online, part of the war on woman’s rights is a deep sense of isolation and shame, which reinforces self-blame. When people don’t know statistics like 1 in every 4 women United-States are raped at least once in their lifetime, it is easy for women to think they did something wrong, feel ashamed, and be unable to understand or fight the institutions, advocates, and vendors of violence against women. As this banner grows, it is building a wall against the false rationale that women are to blame for the very war on themselves.
I remember the look on a few young guys who were walking through the park. They began to laugh at the different stories I told but soon realized the gravity of the situation and the real traumas of woman created everyday by porn. Their faces changed and after a quick talk between them, they came to ask how they could beinvolved in the demonstration. We’re growing every day, so enjoy having fucked up fantasies about multiple-penetration while it lasts. Because it won’t.
